Smoker’s Delight and A Gut Feeling explore the relationship between humans and their working organs. The diptyque vessels are a response to the toxic culture of “healthy” appearances. With the ongoing trend of a “healthy” lifestyle, the work questions whether the curated lifestyles we exhibit are a reflection of what is happening in our bodies. Smoker’s Delight mimics exhausted and unhealthy lungs while A Gut Feeling portrays a working, healthy intestinal gut. The polarity shows how well and how badly we treat our bodies, and what is visible in the end. Shaped in the form of organs, the vessels display the performative culture and aesthetics of a “healthy” lifestyle.
